Extensive Remedial works at school (CIF)
Extensive refurbishment and repairs at SEN School.
Roofing and internal refurbishment works of a special educational needs school in Wolverhampton following receipt of a grant from the Government Condition Improvement Fund (CIF).
The school is situated in an old stately home with extensive landscaped grounds and caters for approximately 100 pupils within key stage 3 and 4.
The school was experiencing substantial issues with water ingress following defects identified to the existing roof coverings and rainwater goods. These issues were affecting the learning environment and presenting a health and safety risk. Wainwrights undertook initial surveys to identify the cause of ongoing water ingress and compiled a schedule of works to rectify.
The scheme comprised the replacement of flat and pitched roof coverings and associated internal refurbishment works. The works were administered under JCT Intermediate Building Contract with Contractor’s Design 2016, incorporating bespoke amendments.

BATS WERE IDENTIFIED DURING THE ECOLOGY SURVEY
Bats were identified as part of the ecology survey within the pitched roof void.
We worked closely with the licensed ecologist to ensure that the replacement of pitched roof coverings was undertaken in full accordance with ‘The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981’.
Following appointment of the contractor further intrusive works were completed internally to establish the extent of the dry and wet rot outbreak identified on site. Extensive remedial works were then undertaken which included large scale replacement and treatment of affected timbers.
